Senior Account Executive - Technology

Job Description:

WE Communications is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join our SWAT team. SWAT is a unique team designed to ensure seamless transitions and coverage for communications needs such as events, product launches, large news cycles and breaking crisis, as well as training and leadership. Members of the SWAT team account staff are exposed to a wide variety of communications experiences which ensure extensive growth and learning opportunities. You’ll get to impress clients (both internal and external) with your integrated marketing ideas; recommend social media approaches; and your ability to negotiate and establish business priorities. We are looking for candidates who can provide day-to-day support, tackle new challenges, deliver client delight and keep the trains running on time. There is room to dream and evolve…demonstrated creativity, flexibility and the ability to see what’s next are essential! A successful SWAT team member needs to be a self-starter and enjoy periods of fast-paced, deadline driven communications. Individuals also need to be comfortable with working across multiple, competing priorities. A sense of humor, the ability to embrace and thrive in constant change, genuine interest in technology and a passion for learning are must-haves.


Influencer Engagement

• Serve as day-to-day contact for media/influencers; share knowledge

• Conduct outreach relevant to integrated marketing or other campaign tactics

• Oversee management of reactive requests, proactively influence & garner coverage

• Contribute to brainstorms & strategic campaign development

• Provide timely and in-depth analysis of coverage results & trends


Digital & Social Media Acumen

• Assist in creating high-level digital/social media strategies that are integrated into communication plans

• Engage with agency digital & monitoring divisions regarding client projects & deliverables

• Amplify/promote news on social properties; update & maintain social editorial calendar


Client Engagement

• Begin anticipating client communication challenges & develop recommendations

• Contribute to development & implementation of communication strategies

• Execute tasks associated with projects; may lead certain aspects of project

• Oversee client meetings, agendas & recaps

• Begin to understand clients’ business model from a global perspective; understand key markets, global influencers and the impact on client/business narrative


Business Acumen & Strategic Thinking

• Contribute to plans & own executing portions of a plan • Identify opportunities for cross-team integration

• Share POV, knowledge & expertise with the team/ agency through presentations, brown bag sessions or development courses, etc.


New Business Development

• Become familiar with WE capabilities across the agency including global region specialties in comparison to competitor agencies

• Serve in a lead research role on organic growth new business efforts including sourcing and gathering audience, industry or competitor market data

• Understand & identify potential opportunities to grow & diversify existing account

• Begin to develop and nurture network of peer contacts outside the agency


People Leadership

• Begin gaining management skills by mentoring junior level staff

• Be a peer resource to staff, interns & new hires

• Manage up to senior staff



  • Typically at least 3-4 years’ experience in communications, preferably in an agency setting &/or within applicable industry
  • Ability to drive client relationships, providing strategic & tactical advice, drafting/executing plans, providing thoughtful analysis, identifying proactive opportunities, crafting materials, tracking coverage
  • Has established influential relationships & proactively placed stories
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong client relationships
  • Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in computers & standard office applications (Microsoft Office is preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree or above preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field
